Southern California is famed for its car culture and as home to the entertainment industry. A just- launched half-day tourist experience lets you explore both, driving, not one, not two, not three but four of the world’s most coveted exotic sports cars through the most iconic spots in the Los Angeles area.

This is a pretty amazing package, and a logistically difficult one to pull off, which is probably why nothing like it existed until Exotics Racing stepped in. The company has been an award-winning sports car driving experience specialist since 2009, and operates a custom-built high-performance racetrack in Las Vegas and another track facility in Southern California. Each year they put thousands of guests behind the wheel of the most exclusive models from Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Porsche, Aston Martin, Audi, Mercedes and more, and they do a fantastic job. I’ve personally done their Vegas driving experience, and I was wowed by the facility, instructors, and professionalism, and it is not surprising that they have an excellent safety record and an amazing fleet of dream cars, meticulously maintained and frequently updated.

At the Vegas and SoCal racetracks you can push the cars to the limits for which they are designed, with triple digit speeds, hard cornering and G-force inducing explosive acceleration. I’ve been writing on Las Vegas tourism for 20 years and Exotics Racing is one of the best visitor outings in the city, period. But this new offering is very different, letting you take to public roads in a jaw-dropping slate of the best of the best of the world’s automobiles.

The 3-hour tour launched a week ago (June 10), and is available twice a day, morning and afternoon, with each session limited to four slots (max seven guests), so there are just eight openings a day available. It’s something you definitely would want to book before your visit to Los Angeles. All tours begin at Exotics Racing retail store at the Santa Monica Pier, with a guide riding shotgun in the lead car, a Maserati GranTurismo driven by a participant. The guide narrates the drive, and can be heard in all four cars. At each carefully planned stop, guests exit, take photos, videos and selfies, and then switch cars so every driver gets to drive each of the four vehicles, all of them convertibles. In addition to the Maserati they include a McLaren 570S Spider, Ferrari 488 Spider and Lamborghini Huracán Spyder.

The tour’s route departs the iconic Santa Monica Pier on Ocean Avenue and heads to the famed Pacific Coast Highway, where drivers wind through Pacific Palisades to the first stop. Next you take on Sunset Boulevard and the curvy roads of Beverly Hills past million-dollar mansions and celebrity homes to the next stop. Then cruise Rodeo Drive before reaching Fox Studios and the final stop at Rancho Park. The tour concludes back at the Santa Monica Pier. Each supercar is equipped with a video camera to capture the entire tour from inside the cars.

“Imagine the top is down, the sunglasses are on and you’re driving down the PCH or Rodeo Drive in Lamborghini or a Maserati. What could be better than that?,” asks Exotics Racing co-founder David Perisset. “We created this tour as we were at our track in Southern California. We drove our supercars around the city and knew this would be the best way to see the sites in a way that guests would remember for the rest of their lives.”

It is also a bargain, especially compared to the costs of renting luxury cars. You typically could not get vehicles of these quality anyway, but even a basic Jaguar-level vehicle costs far more for a single day then this entire guided trip. The price is $599 per person and includes fuel, insurance, snacks and drinks (Drivers must be at least 21 years or older and their passengers must be at least 13). You do not need to know how to drive a stick, as the cars all have clutch-less paddle shifters and an option to drive in fully automatic transmission mode. Tours are offered every day except at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
